Wealthy Affiliate (WA) helps people succeed online. It claims to be “the world’s most helpful and active affiliate marketing community.” It provides training, support, networking, and website services.
WA began operations in 2005. They claim to have helped over 1.5 million budding internet entrepreneurs.
What Do WA Members Get?
WA offers education, web hosting, tools, and community. It has free and premium plans, but its free plan is limiting. Case in point, users get support and instructor access for the first seven days only. After that, affiliates are on their own. The premium plan starts at $49 monthly, with no annual plan or discount options.
Live chat, classes, and community engagement support the WA learning experience.
For website software, WA uses and manages WordPress. WA positions itself as a managed WordPress provider and compares itself to Pagely, WP Engine, and Kinsta to show its price advantage.
Note: We strongly recommend keeping your training separate from your website services for greater flexibility and options. Secondly, WA’s level of managed WordPress services may be equal to SiteGround, Hostinger, Bluehost, and many others. If so, much cheaper and better alternatives exist. For example, Hostinger’s plans start at $2.99 a month.
For domains, WA compares itself to GoDaddy, Name Cheap, and Name.com to showcase its price advantage. However, many domain providers sell for much less than WA. For instance, Hostinger sells domains starting at $0.99 and $8.99 for dot coms.
WA’s community is about getting help and networking. The support can be beneficial for newbies, but constant networking will only distract members from their affiliate marketing businesses.
WA “will help you choose a direction for your business from over 1,000,000 different niches.”
A niche market is a segment of a broader market that can be defined by its own unique needs, preferences, or identity that makes it different from the market at large. Are there over 1 million niches? WA must know something most others don’t. Many listicles report up to 100 niches. Most affiliate networks have roughly 30 product categories and up to 100 subcategories.
WA states that it “takes less than 30 seconds to build a beautiful looking, mobile, and revenue ready website.”
A WordPress installation takes a few seconds. By contrast, creating a high-performing, optimized, and revenue-ready website could take weeks. Also, a site is a constant work-in-progress.
“Wealthy Affiliate members OWN Google rankings and own a huge share of ALL traffic online. That is a fact.”
That’s a bogus and nonsensical claim without merit.
How Ranked Affiliate Compares
Ranked Affiliate provides education, instructor support, and private coaching (for an additional fee). Members also get new program listings monthly. Instead of charging excessive fees, Ranked Affiliate charges a one-time fee of $19.
We recommend Hostinger and SiteGround for WordPress hosting. Secondly, many excellent communities are available for free on Facebook, including hundreds of marketing and WordPress groups. WordPress features a robust community of developers who are quick to support users. You can also find what you need via search engines.
If you add the cost of a domain ($10+/- annually) and shared hosting (starting at $2.99 monthly) to your Ranked Affiliate purchase, you’ll still save hundreds compared to WA. That’s extra money that you can allocate to your online business and marketing budget.
